Advertisement placed in the Hants & Berks Gazette, dated 2nd of October, 1897, giving notice of sale of lots of land at Pamber Heath. BURNEY BIT, EVENT > 1897. SALE OF LOTS AT PAMBER HEATH A SUCCESS FOR ALL. 41 lots, owned by W.W.B. Beach M.P., were successfully sold, realising between £450 - £25 per lot, ranging from £100 - £25 an acre. Great majority sold to the existing occupants and all lots sold except for one occupied by James Long, who being aged was allowed to live there for the rest of his life. BURNEY BIT, EVENT > 1919. Mrs E. MONGER CLAIMS RECORD. Mrs E. Monger of Burney Bit claimed to have the largest number of family members engaged in the First World War after `Daily News' offered £250 prize for person with the most members serving. CHURCH COTTAGE, EVENT > 1910. CHOIR SUPPER AT CHURCH COTTAGE. On `Tuesday evening' a supper was held for the choir at Church Cottage, Pamber Heath. Captain Ayrton of the Church Army, who had charge of Pamber Heath before the coming of Rev. W.S. Walford, was present. Happy time spent by all. After the supper, Rev. W.S. Walford presented the organist, Mr W. Yates, with a bound copy of Handels Messiah, subscribed to by the choir. Boys and girls were given a little money present. CHURCH COTTAGE, EVENT > 1978. St. LUKE'S CHURCH COTTAGE TOO SMALL FOR CURATES. Three suitable candidates lost due to small size of cottage. Church authorities agreed to purchase new property but will have to sell cottage to offset cost. Cottage had been twice extended but further modification not feasible. CHURCH ROAD, EVENT > 1987. WALNUT TREE AXED NEAR CHURCH ROAD. A preservation order for a 200 year-old tree was in the process of being put in place but the developer cut it down saying `it was getting in the way of his plans, the tree was dying and he had not been handed a preservation order'. Builders of a new housing estate on the Tadley- side of Pamber Heath Road are to provide a footpath along the road for safety, due to future increase in traffic. PAMBER HEATH SCHOOL, EVENT > 1884. MRS RAVENSCROFT GIVES A MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA. The Heath School schoolmistress, Mrs Ravenscroft, gave a musical concert in the schoolroom by permission of Rev. H.L. Browne. Fair audience. Various songs performed by many and Mrs Ravenscroft, who was suffering from a severe cold, was given a warm reception. PAMBER HEATH SCHOOL, EVENT > 1885. MRS RAVENSCROFT GIVES A CONCERT IN PAMBER SCHOOLROOM. Mrs Ravenscroft gave a concert in the Schoolroom at Pamber `on Monday evening in last week'. Varied programme of musical entertainment. Some vocalists came from Basingstoke and Mr H.E. Powell of Basingstoke was the principal accompanist. Small audience due to the rough and stormy weather. PAMBER HEATH SCHOOL, EVENT > 1885. TREAT FOR PAMBER HEATH SCHOLARS, PARENTS & AGED. A `liberal tea' and entertainment was provided on `Tuesday' at the Church Mission School, Pamber Heath, for scholars, their parents and a number of aged people of the congregation. PAMBER HEATH SCHOOL, EVENT > 1897. PRESENTATION TO REV. W.S. STEGGALL. On the 13th of August, 1897, the children of Pamber Heath weekday and Sunday School presented the Rev. W.S. Steggall with a `handsome little reading lamp'. A few days ago, the parishioners of Monk Sherborne and Pamber presented him with a `very beautiful octagal lantern' in respect of his six years work among them. PAMBER HEATH SCHOOL, EVENT > 1900. FIRST JUMBLE SALE AT PAMBER HEATH. A rummage sale, believed to be the first in the village, was held at Pamber Heath in the Mission Room on Tuesday, 22nd of May. Sale commenced at 3 o'clock and within half-an-hour nearly everything was sold. The Misses Adams, Mrs Adams and Miss Hall sold the goods. Tea and cake supplied for one penny. Large quantity of goods came from the Parsonage. Mrs Roller, Mrs Oppee, Mrs Franklin Saunders, Mr Rose and Messrrs Burberry & Sons Ltd., were the suppliers of other goods. PAMBER HEATH SCHOOL, EVENT > 1900. PAMBER HEATH SCHOOLCHILDREN RECEIVE A TREAT. Mr and Mrs Benham of `The Stores, Pamber Heath', gave the scholars of Pamber Heath Sunday and Day Schools a treat in the Mission Room. `First-rate tea' supplied on the Queen's birthday. 103 children assembled at 4pm and sweets given to each child. Local artist, Rex Monger, painted a mural, with the theme of Disney's `Jungle Book', on the wall inside Pamber Heath Cub and Scout Den, with help from former member, 11 year-old Andrew Griffin. Pamber Heath Scouts claimed the `Silchester Axe' for their camping skills at a weekend competition at Church Brook Farm, Baughurst. They will go on to represent the district in a county competition. TENNIS COURTS, EVENT > 1980. TENNIS CLUB TO BE CHARGED JUST £100 A YEAR RENT FOR NEW COURTS. Pamber Parish Council decide on £100 a year rent for use of one court by Pamber Heath Tennis Club, despite disagreement over the low charge necessary to not over- burden new club's finances. £50 extra charge decided on to allow club members to use the designated `public court,' if not in use.
